The Gilmore neighbourhood of Richmond is in South Richmond. The Gilmore, Richmond neighbourhood is South of Steveston Hwy and between Shell Road and No. 2 Road. This makes it one of the largest neighbourhoods in Richmond. It is comprised entirely of large farms that are in the Agricultural Land Reserve, with no condos or townhouses. Most of the homes in the area are very large, estate style executive homes. However, there are still some older homes in the area. The starting price point for an older home is $2,000,000. However, newer homes are significantly more and starting around for $4,000,000.
Commute
If you live in Gilmore, the best way to commute would be by car. There is bus service along Steveston Hwy; however, the bus does not travel within the community. There are also very few bike lanes and paths within the neighbourhood. There is a shared, unpaved, off-road bike bath along dyke road, if you enjoy scenic bike rides for fun.
Schools
The Gilmore neighbourhood falls into two elementary school catchments. So, your school will depend on which part of the neighbourhood you live in. If you live on the East side of the neighbourhood the elementary school is Maple Lane Elementary. Which has an 8.3 rating on Fraser Institute’s school ranking list.
Furthermore, if you live on the West side of the neighbourhood, the elementary school is Westwind Elementary. It has a rating of 6. Regardless of where you live in the neighbourhood the high school is Steveston-London Secondary. The rating for it is 6.2.
Parks
If you enjoy walks along the river, Gilmore may be a good neighbourhood for you as there is a gravel pathway along the dyke on Dyke Road. Furthermore, if you have four legged friends, No. 3 Road Bark Park, is a great place to visit. It is an off-leashed dog park and there are many cute metal statues of dogs throughout the park. The Woodwards slough is also a great place to walk with or without your pets.
Shopping & Dining
Lastly, unfortunately, there are no shopping or dining options located within the neighbourhood. However, there are many options located a short drive away in Ironwood, Broadmoor and Steveston Village.
